The number of confirmed Covid-19 in Kenya reported on Monday went down significantly after the Ministry of Health curiously reduced the total samples tested in the past 24 hours.
On Sunday, for example, a total of 911 people tested positive from a sample size of 6,045 and, on Saturday, 1,184 people tested positive from 7,139 tested and the numbers tested last week were as high and yielded the high positive cases reported.
It remains a subject of seculation why the Ministry of Health would reduce samples being tested in 24 hours at a time it has consistently warned Kenyans of a deadlier third wave of Coronavirus and instigated drastic measures to contain its spread.
In the Monday announcement, MoH said a total of 460 people had tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 2,753, with the positivity remaining at about 16.7 per cent.
The Health Ministry said the total confirmed positive cases since the virus was first reported in Kenya now stands at 139,448, with cumulative tests done so far rising to 1,520,390.

MoH also announced that 20 deaths had been reported in the past 24 hours; one in the last 24 hours, 10 in the last one month and 9 being late death reports from facility record audits.
The total fatalities cumulatively now stand at 2,244, eve as 178 patients have recovered from the virus; 99 from health facilities and 79 from Home Based Isolation and Care.
Total recoveries stand at 94,361 currently, as 1,590 patients remain admitted at various health facilities countrywide, while 5,998 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
The Mutahi Kagwe-led ministry added that 200 patients are in the ICU; 40 on ventilatory support, 130 on supplemental oxygen while 30 others are on close observation.
Similarly, 240 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 223 of them in the general wards and 17 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
