The dreaded variant of the Covid-19 virus, Omicron has been detected in Kenya.

This is according to the Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe.

The Omicron variant has been detected in three individuals who are already in quarantine.

Mutahi warned the variant will be dominant across the entire world.

"We have detected the Omicron virus among the travellers and it will be dominant across the globe," Mutahi said.

Mutahi said currently the Kenyan government is engaging South Africa to find a solution to the fast-spreading Omicron variant.

"We are engaging SA, the variant is spreading very fast," he said.
