Kenya government on Friday announced it expects to get 130,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine from Covax through the GAVI dose-sharing pact across neighbouring countries next week.
The Ministry of Health said it was mopping up doses of AstraZeneca jabs unused during the first phase to enable Kenya kick off her second dose vaccination by the end of next week.
A total of 951,026 people had so far been vaccinated against Coronavirus across Kenya; 289,030 are aged 58 and above, health workers 163,773, teachers 149,641, security officers 80,360 and others 268,222.
The ministry headed by CS Mutahi Kagwe urged all vaccination centres to remain open throughout next weekend to enable the second dose administration to be conducted.
