Terry Ramadhani Kiunge, who was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), has promised to transform the authority.

Kiunge pledged to effect key reforms at the scandal-ridden KEMSA and also ensure there is transparency to ensure Kenyans get quality medicines in all health facilities.

“I am here to lead @kemsa_kenya to deliver on the promises that Kenya's President @WilliamsRuto made to the public as per our mandate: To get quality medicine to every hospital & dispensary in Kenya, quickly, efficiently, at the lowest possible cost,” she tweeted.

She added: “I am here because I am keen to enlighten the public and our bosses on what we are doing to improve & strengthen @kemsa_kenya’s service to Kenyans. Our President @WilliamsRuto & his Deputy @Rigathi promised openness and action. We shall deliver on those promises at KEMSA.”


The KEMSA board chaired by Mary Chao Mwadime on May 19, 2022, appointed Kiunge as KEMSA CEO after she emerged top in the recruitment process that commenced in March.

Kiunge replaced acting CEO John Kabuchi, who replaced Jonah Manjari, who was suspended in August 2020 following the Sh7.8 billion Personal Protective Equipment tender scandal.

She has more than 19 years of experience in Human Resource management and holds a a Bachelor of Education from Kenyatta University, Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from University of Liverpool and an Adaptive Leadership Certification from Harvard Kennedy School.

She is a certified project management professional and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development with leadership experience in both public and private health sectors.

The KEMSA boss previously served as Director Academy HR and Global Change at Aga Khan University in Nairobi and as Senior Director in the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU) briefly.
