The total of people who have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in Kenya has gone up and now stands at 876,708.

The updated Covid-19 data was announced by the Ministry of Health on Friday.

According to the ministry, 271,079 of those vaccinated are above the age of 87, while 157,211 are health workers, 135,957 teachers, 73,544 security officers and 238,917 in others categories.

The ministry headed by Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe also announced that 497 more people tested positive for Coronavirus from 5,117 samples tested in the past 24 hours.

Similarly, 441 more patients have recovered from the ailment, even as 17 more fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours.

13 of the deaths reported in the last 24 hours occurred in the last one month, according the Ministry of Health, while 4 were late death reports from facility record audits countrywide.

The total infections recorded so far countrywide stands at 159,318 while the cumulative tests conducted across the country since the first case was reported now stands at 1,669,552
