Total fatalities in Kenya due to Covid-19 has risen to 2,643 after 21 more people died; with one having passed in the last 24 hours and 20 on diverse dates in the last one month.

According to Ministry of Health, a total of 1,417 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities across Kenya, with 6,959 being under the home-based isolation and care.

The ministry headed by CS Mutahi Kagwe, said 205 other patients remain admitted in ICU; 42 are on ventilatory support, 133 on supplemental oxygen and 30 are under observation.

Similarly, 248 patients have recovered from Coronavirus; 218 are from home-based and isolation care and 30 others from various health facilities across the country.

Total recoveries, according to the ministry, stand at 106,836 out of which 77,822 are from the home-based care and isolation, while 29,014 are from various health facilities in Kenya.

In the last 24 hours, 194 people tested positive for Covid-19 from 1,779 samples tested raising the number of confirmed positive Coronavirus cases across the country to 156,981.

The new virus cases include 184 Kenyans and 10 foreigners, with 105 being males and 89 females.


Similarly, the Kagwe-led ministry announced that 826,617 people have been vaccinated so far against Covid-19 disease in Kenya.

Of those who have received the Astrazeneca jab, 477,754 are aged 58 and above, 152,809 health workers, 126,801 teachers and 69,253 are security officers.
