Kenyans have encouraged veteran reggae emcee, MC Full Stop real name John Maina, not surrender in his long battle with Tuberculosis (TB) after he said he was contemplating giving in.

In a series of posts on social media, Maina narrated his long painful battle with TB and how it had collapsed one of his lungs after he was diagnosed with the ailment in 2021.

He said the disease initially attacked his lungs but it later affected his throat causing him to lose his voice, the key ingredient he needs for his once thriving reggae emceeing career.

“Hii imeenda” literally. My left lung has totally collapsed nimebaki na moja. In 2021 i was diagnosed with TB ya lungs ikasosi lungs kabisa. 2022 nikapata TB ya throat nayo ikanimaliza sauti, Running, walking, kuongea ni shida…….” he narrated.

While thanking those who have stood by him during his tribulations with TB, Maina chillingly indicated he was contemplating giving up the fight owing to the suffering he had endured.

Maina is a veteran in the Kenyan showbiz scene and has been emceeing reggae and dancehall gigs across the country since 1994 and hosted the Riddim Vybz show on K24 TV and another show on NRG Radio before his ailment left him weak and bedridden.

Among those who encourages him to soldier on with the fight against TB is former Kiss fm presenter Shaffie Weru, musician Dan Aceda and PR practitioner Fadhili Kanini.

Tuberculosis is curable as many times as one is infected. However, for those who have been treated before, it is mandatory to exclude resistance to any of the anti-TB drugs. 

The popular and versatile reggae emcee once revealed how he almost lost his life owing to alcohol addiction in 2015.
