Kiss 100 FM top breakfast presenter Kamene Goro has been laid off as Radio Africa Group (RAG) commences its own season of redundancies that have been plaguing the Kenyan media.

An insider who spoke to Swala Nyeti on condition of anonymity said Kamene was handed her redundancy letter on Thursday after hosting her show with comedian Oga Obinna.

According to our source at Lion Place, the presenter was among the first employees to receive their letters from the HR Department as the station effects mass layoffs at RAG.

Kamene, who joined Kiss together with Andrew Kibe in 2019, is set to be replaced by Sheila Kwamboka alias Kwambox, who has been poached from Standard Group’s Vybez Radio.

Swala Nyeti is being informed that Kwambox visited the Kiss fm offices at Lion Place on Thursday to pick her contract and familiarize with the office ahead of her move end-month.

More employees from Radio Africa brands Kiss fm, Classic 105, Radio Jambo, X FM, East FM, Smooth FM, The Star newspaper and Kiss Television are set to be laid off in the coming days.

We have learnt that Radio Africa Group Human Resource Manager Jemima Ngode, who is away to attend her father’s burial, will return on Monday to issue more termination letters.

In an internal memo dated December 9, 2022 title “Rationalization of Company Operations,” RAG said it would declare numerous redundancies based on a “new structure.”

The termination of Kamene has left the hundreds of staff at the media house founded by current CEO Patrick Quarcoo in anxiety as they wait to know their fate in the coming days.
