Police have launched an investigation after a 23-year old interior designer fell 10 floors down to his tragic death after a night of clubbing with a renowned Nairobi mugithi singer and disc jockey.

Geoffrey Mwathi is reported to have fallen under an unclear circumstance from the 10th floor of Redwood Apartments, which is situated close to USIU Africa in Kasarani area.

Reports indicate that Mwathi fell out the window of a house that is rented by popular Kikuyu musicians Lawrence Njuguna alias DJ Fatxo, who also runs a deejaying school.

He reportedly hired the interior decorator to upgrade his shop and office and organized a meeting with him on the on February 21 and that’s the last time he was at his house.

His mother, who resides and works in Qatar, told a local media house that Geoffrey had asked him for Sh200 to use as fare to attend the reported business meeting in Ruiru.

Geoffrey’s mother says he later confirmed meeting DJ Fatxo and touring the shop and office that he was supposed to redecorate and then relocated to another location along Kiambu Road.

In his statement recorded at Kasarani Police Station, DJ Fatxo claimed they met and together went to four nightclubs including Bliss Bistro in Ruiru and Quiver Lounge in Roysambu but is remains unclear how the business meeting converted to a clubbing experience.

A CCTV footage obtained by Inooro Tv from the Redwood Apartments showed that DJ Fatxo and Geoffrey flanked by three unknown women went back to the DJ's house around 3am.

A cousin to the DJ is also said to have joined them in the apartment before the three women left at around 4am leaving Mwathi in the apartment with the other two unidentified males.

The CCTV later captured DJ Fatxo’s cousin making frantic calls then returning to the house as the two men scanned the parking lot before Mwathi is seen falling off the building.

DJ Fatxo, and the other two men who came to his house, in separate statements they filed at Kasarani Police Station, claimed Geoffrey had jumped off the 10th floor to his death.

However, the suicide theory has been dismissed by Mwathi's family and they are demanding that the police get to the bottom of the mysterious death of their son.

Muchoki Mwathi, the deceased man’s uncle, claims he was found with his trousers and innerwear pulled down to his knees and demanded a thorough probe into what occurred.
