Joseph Mwenda, who is popularly known as DJ Joe Mfalme, has finally quit Capital fm after 12 years at the station that has been bleeding top talent fast in the last few years.

Mfalme’s move to leave the station owned by billionaire Chris Kirubi comes two months after the dj launched an ultra-modern sports bar and nightclub, The Tap, located along Baricho Road.

In a statement, the DJ said thanked the station for the 12-chance that has seen him become a household name as he now sets his eyes on new endeavors set to be announced soon.

“I would like to thank the Capital FM Kenya family for giving an opportunity to a young man from Meru who had dreams and ambitions of entertaining people through the art of deejaying. I have made some of my best memories working with Capital FM Kenya and I will eternally be grateful to them for the growth and opportunity awarded to me,” he said in the statement.

Mfalme played on the now cancelled Hits Not Homework and the Big Bounce shows on Capital fm and is one of the most sought-after djs in Kenya due to his talent and professionalism.

He launched his illustrious entertainment career more than 10 years ago after he won the 2008 Pilsner Mfalme dj competition that saw tens of deejays battle it out for the top crown.

He has also been the top deejaying act in hundreds of local and international gigs and concerts and has featured in shows on Trace Africa and K24 tv playing a wide variety of music genres.

DJ Joe Mfalme’s exit comes as Capital fm has been bleeding talent in the last few years.

Laura Walubengo left the station in 2018 followed by presenter Anita Nderu and lifestyle writer Susan Wong, who both resigned in 2019 alongside Maqbul Mohammed and Sharon Mundia.

Amina Abdi Rabar exited Capital fm last year, just a month after presenter Miano Muchiri also left followed by Joey Muthengi, who had replaced Cess Mutungi, followed suit in December.
