NCBA has rolled out Sh12 million in scholarships to support over 150 students across Kenya, reinforcing its long-term commitment to education and youth empowerment.
This financial boost forms part of the bank’s annual Sh100 million pledge aimed at uplifting communities through strategic partnerships.
The cheque presentation event was hosted at the Nairobi Railway Museum, in line with NCBA’s sustainability framework, "Change The Story".
Several organisations, including Edumed Trust, Dr. Choksey Albinism Foundation, M-PESA Foundation Academy, SOS Children’s Villages Kenya, Palmhouse Foundation, Daraja Kenya Initiative, KENSAP, WEDCO, and Kianda Foundation, have facilitated the distribution of the scholarships.
Beyond financing education, the initiative integrates empowerment programmes designed to nurture entrepreneurship and leadership skills among beneficiaries.

During the cheque handover ceremony, NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora emphasised the bank’s vision for a future driven by well-rounded, confident young leaders.
"We believe in the power of education to shape the future, and to top it up, we want to strengthen our mentorship initiatives to ensure that the students are well-rounded individuals who will be confident leaders in their communities, as we work towards having them paying their knowledge forward," Gachora stated.
"We want to create a lasting impact by instilling a sense of responsibility and leadership in our young people."
Echoing these sentiments, NCBA Chairman James Ndegwa highlighted the programme’s role in bridging educational gaps for young learners.
“I think this NCBA Educational program is so critical because it is leveling the playing field as much as possible for the youth so that they can be educated and participate, shape, influence and direct the future," Ndegwa remarked.
Furthering its support for youth development, the bank has relaunched its Boys Mentorship Programme in collaboration with the Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF).
The initiative, which has been introduced at Upperhill Boys High School, is designed to equip young men with essential skills to navigate challenges and unlock their leadership potential.
The setting served as a symbolic link between history and the future, inspiring students to explore sustainable innovations such as modern electric trains, solar-powered transport, and urban mobility solutions.
To commemorate the occasion, NCBA, together with its partners and scholarship recipients, planted trees at the museum—further cementing its dedication to environmental conservation and community-driven transformation.
Through such initiatives, the bank continues to position itself at the forefront of sustainable and impactful social development.
