President William Ruto has announced a Sh4 billion investment to construct new roads and rehabilitate existing feeder roads in Nairobi County.

The initiative aims to enhance mobility in the capital city, easing congestion and improving overall infrastructure.

The President confirmed that the funds will be directed towards both the construction of new roads and the completion of ongoing projects that were left unfinished by the defunct Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS).

“We will pick them all up, finish them and do more so that Nairobi can be the city we will all be proud to live in,” he said during a Sunday service at the United Pentecostal Church of Kenya in Dagoretti North.

This commitment reflects the government’s focus on addressing Nairobi’s infrastructure challenges, which have long hindered efficient movement within the city.

President Ruto emphasised the importance of modernising the city’s roads, stating that Nairobi’s progress is crucial to the overall development of Kenya.

"Nairobi cannot remain behind as other regions of Kenya make progress, and there's no way Kenya will move forward if Nairobi lags behind," he added, underlining the necessity of investing in the capital’s infrastructure to ensure the city’s growth aligns with national progress.

The road rehabilitation and construction project is expected to significantly improve transport networks, reducing traffic jams and creating a more efficient urban environment for residents and businesses alike.
