In an exciting development for Kitui County, NCBA Bank has officially unveiled its 96th branch at the Chief Kitonga Building in Kitui town.

The opening is part of the bank’s ongoing expansion strategy, designed to bring accessible financial solutions closer to Kenyans in underserved regions.

This move reinforces NCBA’s commitment to bolstering local economies and providing community-driven financial services that cater to diverse needs.

With a focus on Kitui’s potential, the bank’s new branch introduces products such as construction loans and asset financing, aimed at supporting both business and infrastructure growth.

These specialised offerings, including loans for essential equipment like school buses and hardware, are tailored to directly stimulate local economic development.

Speaking at the opening, NCBA Group Managing Director, John Gachora, highlighted the vast opportunities Kitui offers.

"The market in Kitui presents numerous untapped opportunities, and as NCBA we are committed to further broadening our impact. Last week we were in Nyahururu, taking a step forward to serve the people of Nyandarua and Laikipia counties," Gachora stated.

"This speaks to a total population of 1,156,849 according to the 2019 Census. As we all know, that is a region celebrated for its extensive agricultural output and captivating tourist destinations like the famous Thomson falls, Ol Jogi wildlife conservancy just to mention but a few and really offers a vibrant landscape for development."

"Today, we are here in Kitui and as part of our expansion strategy, the bank plans to introduce public sector banking and onboard clients in sectors such as schools, churches, SACCOs, colleges, petrol stations, hospitals, and hotels, driving financial inclusion across this county that has a population of about 1.2 Million industrious people," Gachora stated.

The new branch is already making an impact, with 668 customers registered in its early days, joining the rapidly growing number of customers in Nyahururu.

This expansion comes in the wake of strong customer demand for NCBA’s wide range of services, from asset finance to trade finance, and the early success of branches in other regions demonstrates the bank’s growing footprint.

NCBA’s approach offers more than just banking – it introduces essential services such as mobile banking, NCBA Till, online banking, and PDQ machines, which promise to increase accessibility and ease for customers.

NCBA's Group Director of Retail Banking, Tirus Mwithiga, expressed the bank's dedication to becoming more than just a service provider:

"Kitui is a region full of promise, and we are committed to helping our customers here reach their financial goals," Mwithiga stated.

"By introducing accessible financial solutions and engaging directly with the community, NCBA aims to be more than a bank. We aim to be a partner in Kitui’s journey of growth."

The opening ceremony also saw the presence of Kitui County Governor, Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, who praised the role accessible financial services will play in unlocking the region's potential.

“To all Kitui residents, do not shy away from loans,” he urged. “Use them as tools to build your businesses and grow your credit limits. With responsible borrowing, we can unlock the economic strength of Kitui County.”

This ambitious expansion reflects the bank’s deepening commitment to regional development. With Kitui now part of NCBA’s network, the bank’s total branch count rises to 97, with Nyahururu taking the 97th spot.

The new Kitui branch, with its 9-member staff, is set to contribute significantly to the county's economic resilience by providing much-needed support to local businesses and fostering community growth.
