More than 3,000 NCBA employees across East Africa are set to benefit from a program on digital skills through a partnership between NCBA Group and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

NCBA says the partnership with AWS, a global cloud services provider, seeks to elevate the bank’s position as a pioneer in digital innovation in the regional financial services industry.

The collaboration will utilize the training and certification offered by AWS to develop customised training programs for NCBA staff in the countries it which the bank operates.

The program will be offered through AWS Digital Classroom allowing NCBA staff to expand their knowledge in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, and Big Data and Analytics.

“By equipping our staff with advanced problem-solving digital skills, we are accelerating our digital transformation efforts, enabling us to bring new end-to-end digitized customer journeys to market,” indicated NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora.

“Organizations need cloud-skilled professionals to drive business transformation, and the availability of skilled talent is the single biggest barrier to industry transformation” noted AWS Head of EMEA Training and Certification Martin Risau.

The Digital Skills Training program is scheduled to be rolled out in phases in September 2024 to make sure majority of the targeted NCBA employees in the region fully participate.
