Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) is bracing for potential disruptions as it faces a looming threat from Gen Z protestors who have vowed to occupy the facility.
In response to the heightened security concerns, both the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and Kenya Airways (KQ) have issued advisories urging passengers to arrive at the airport significantly earlier than usual for their flights.
The KAA has announced increased security checks and protocols at JKIA, advising passengers to arrive at the airport early to avoid any potential delays in catching their flights.
The authority has also urged passengers to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight information.
"Due to heightened security checks & protocols at JKIA, passengers are advised to arrive at the airport early to avoid any potential delays in catching their flights," the authority announced.

Meanwhile, Kenya Airways is also anticipating severe traffic congestion on major roads leading to JKIA on Tuesday.
"Due to anticipated traffic disruptions on major roads leading to JKIA on Tuesday 23rd July 2024, customers are advised to arrive at the airport at least four (4) hours before their scheduled flight departure time," KQ announced.
The airline has advised its customers to arrive at the airport at least four hours before their scheduled departure time to avoid missing their flights.
“Customers are also encouraged to plan extra time to avoid potential delays enroute to the airport,” KQ stated.
To facilitate a smoother check-in process, Kenya Airways is offering passengers the option to check in online or through their mobile app from 30 hours to 90 minutes before departure.
However, the airline has cautioned that despite its best efforts, flight delays are possible due to the anticipated disruptions.
Both authorities have emphasized the safety and well-being of passengers and staff as their top priority.
