Millions of Kenyans were plunged into darkness on Thursday evening after a countrywide power outage struck at around 5:40 PM

The cause of the disruption is attributed to a system disturbance on the national grid according to Kenya Power, the nation's electricity supplier.

"We experienced a system disturbance on the grid, resulting in power supply disruption in most parts of the country," Kenya Power stated.

The company expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and urged customers for patience.

They have also promised an update on the progress of the restoration efforts within two hours.
