Simba Corporation has launched the new Ashok Leyland Ecomet Truck model and also unveiled a new dealership in Thika Town as the firm seeks to scale its market share in Kenya.

With the opening of Swanley Motors, the firm seeks to position the seven-tonne truck in the competitive 7 to 10-tonne trucks category, which realized total sales of 1,378 units in 2023.

Simba Corporation Group Managing Director - Motors Division, Naresh Leekha said the twin launches will drive the company growth in the Mount Kenya, Eastern and Rift Valley regions.

“The launch of Ashok Leyland Ecomet model in Kenya fulfils a gap in our product range and strategically positions Simba Corporation as a comprehensive transport solutions provider to meet the diverse needs of the Kenyan customer,” indicated Leekha.

He revealed that the new Ecomet truck will retail at Sh4.5 million and can easily be converted into a 29 or 33-seater bus, allowing it to tap into the public transport segments.

Simba Corporation, through its subsidiary Deluxe Trucks and Buses, seeks to widen its market share while providing other solutions including hardware, mattresses, water tank and other logistics segments.

Simba Corporation Chief Commercial Officer Mohamed Varvany says the firm will provide financing and other incentives for the new Ecomet Truck in an effort to push up the sales.

The new truck eyes corporate, PSV, agribusiness, processing, education, and construction transport sectors with the new Thika dealership offering sales, spares, and vehicle servicing.
