Polycarp Igathe, a familiar name in Kenyan politics and business, has embarked on a new chapter in his career, this time with South African food and consumer goods giant Tiger Brands.

Announced on the company's social media platforms, Igathe, a former Nairobi Deputy Governor, has been appointed as one of six new Managing Directors, entrusted with leading the newly formed International Brands Unit.

This marks a significant return for Igathe, who previously served as Tiger Brands' Regional Managing Director for East Africa between 2008 and 2013.

After a decade away, he rejoined the company in November 2023 as Chief Growth Officer, demonstrating his continued trust in the organization and its potential.

"We are pleased to announce the internal appointment of six managing directors who will be leading our newly organized business units," Tiger Brands stated, highlighting the strategic shift towards "consumer obsession, agile execution, and innovation."

"The newly appointed managing directors are Quinton Swart, Liezel Holmes, Nkosodumo Mfini, Grant Pereira, Ismail Nanabhay and Polycarp Igathe."

Igathe joins a distinguished team, with Quinton Swart heading Bakeries, Dumo Mfini overseeing Culinary, Grant Pereira leading Snacks, Treats & Beverages, Liezel Holmes managing Grains, and Ismail Nanabhay heading Home, Personal Care & Baby.

His impressive track record speaks for itself.

Prior to his foray into politics, he held leadership positions in renowned companies like Coca-Cola, Kenya Breweries, Haco Industries, Vivo Energy, and Equity Bank.

This wealth of experience, coupled with his previous success with Tiger Brands, positions him well to spearhead the International Brands Unit's growth strategy.

This appointment signifies Igathe's continuous pursuit of excellence and his ability to navigate diverse professional landscapes.

While his political aspirations may have taken a temporary backseat, his return to the corporate world signals a renewed focus on business leadership and international expansion.

As Igathe takes the helm of the International Brands Unit, his journey with Tiger Brands promises to be an exciting one, watched closely by both the business community and those who followed his political endeavours.
