Former staff members of Twitter Ghana Ltd have achieved a significant victory after a year-long struggle in their fight for fair treatment and compensation, thanks to successful negotiations led by Agency Seven Seven.

In November 2022, following the acquisition of Twitter Inc by Elon Musk, several employees of Twitter Ghana Ltd were abruptly laid off without any severance.

Determined to uphold their rights under Ghana's Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651), the affected staff sought to enforce the provisions outlined in Section 65, which mandates employers to notify the Chief Labour Officer of Ghana and engage in settlement negotiations before implementing a redundancy exercise.

This legal battle highlights the crucial role of Ghana's Labour and Employment Law in safeguarding employees' rights during mass redundancy situations, preventing undue hardship for workers affected by corporate decisions.
