The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced plans to collaborate with Kenya's large taxpayers to ensure the remittance of Sh1.1 trillion in taxes to the government during the 2023–2024 financial year.

This ambitious endeavour is expected to yield an additional Sh282 billion in revenue for the fiscal year, compared to the Sh818 billion collected in the previous year.

The KRA defines large taxpayers as those entities with an annual income of up to Sh1.3 billion.

Currently, there are 2,089 registered large taxpayers hailing from various sectors of Kenya's economy.

During a recent engagement with these key stakeholders at the Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi, KRA Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga emphasized the importance of a collaborative approach, as he unveiled the KRA's Relationship Management Framework.

"At KRA, our commitment is not only to collect taxes but also to support you in upholding compliance, while efficiently contributing to our nation's economic agenda," said Wattanga.

"To facilitate this, we have established a dedicated office for our large taxpayers known as the 'Large Taxpayers Office' (LTO), which will continue to engage and partner with you through a Relationship Management Framework," the Commissioner General added.

The Relationship Management Framework serves as a tool that allows the KRA to identify, manage, and nurture relationships with taxpayers, paving the way for more personalized and relevant services.

It represents a significant step towards enhancing the taxpayer experience, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring tax compliance.

Beyond merely collecting taxes, these engagements also aim to unlock and address the concerns raised by large taxpayers.

By fostering an open dialogue, the KRA seeks to provide valuable feedback, ultimately improving the tax collection process and creating a conducive environment for businesses in Kenya.
