Safaricom has announced the departure of Kathryne Maundu from her role as the Company Secretary, marking a significant change in the leadership structure of the telecommunications giant.
Safaricom announced this fresh development via a statement it issued on Saturday.
This transition, effective as of Saturday, comes after Maundu's dedicated service to the company for over years.
"The Board announces the resignation of Ms. Kathryne Maundu as the Company Secretary of Safaricom PLC, effective 30th September 2023," the statement read.

Maundu has been a stalwart within the organization, providing invaluable support to the Safaricom PLC Board and its various committees.
Her unwavering commitment to upholding the company's mandate in strict adherence to Kenyan laws and regulations has earned her the trust and appreciation of the Board.
In response to her resignation, the Board expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Maundu for her steadfast dedication and sound advice throughout her tenure.
The company's leadership extended their best wishes to her as she embarks on new endeavours in the future.
"The Board takes this opportunity to thank Kathryne for her dedicated service, sound advice and commitment to Safaricom over the years, and wishes her the very best for the future," the statement read.
Following Maundu's departure, the Safaricom PLC Board has taken swift action to ensure continuity and stability within the organization.
In the same statement, Safaricom announced the appointment of Linda Mesa Wambani as the acting Company Secretary, effective from Sunday albeit in an acting capacity pending regulatory approval.
"The Board is also pleased to announce the appointment (subject to regulatory approval) of Ms. Linda Mesa Wambani as the acting Company Secretary of Safaricom PLC with effect from 1," October 2023," the statement read.
According to the statement, Wambani brings to the role a wealth of experience, having served as a qualified advocate for over 19 years.
She currently holds the position of Senior Legal Counsel at Safaricom PLC, where she has been instrumental in providing legal and corporate governance support. Her responsibilities extend to Safaricom's subsidiary, the M-PESA Foundation, and Safaricom's investment vehicles in Ethiopia.
Prior to joining Safaricom PLC, Linda Mesa Wambani had a successful career at Dentons Hamilton Harrison & Mathews as a commercial and litigation lawyer, showcasing her expertise in various facets of the legal profession.
Wambani's impressive educational background includes a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the prestigious University of Nairobi, a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from the United States International University (USIU), and a Master of Laws Degree in Commercial Law, again from the University of Nairobi.
She has also earned the distinction of being a Certified Public Secretary and holds the titles of Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths.
Her professional affiliations include memberships in the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya, the Women on Boards Network, and the Law Society of Kenya.
With her extensive legal knowledge and experience, coupled with her profound commitment to corporate governance, Wambani is poised to take on her new role as acting Company Secretary, ensuring the continuation of Safaricom PLC's unwavering dedication to compliance, excellence, and innovation in the telecommunications industry.
