Kenya Development Corporation (KDC) has appointed Dr Sakwa Bunyasi as the new Board Chairman and Norah Buyaki Ratemo as the corporation’s new Director General.

KDC says Dr Bunyasi takes to the corporation a wealth of experience having worked at World Bank in various capacities as Principal Economist & Portfolio Manager in South Asia.

Dr Bunyasi, who worked as Member of Parliament for Nambale in Busia County from 2013 to 2022, also worked with the African Development Bank as Principal Economist.

He holds a Doctorate in Economics and Public Policy from the George Washington University, USA, Master of Science (Agricultural Economics) from the University of Nairobi and BA (Economics) from the University of Nairobi.

The economist has also served on the Boards of various companies and is the immediate former Chairman of the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Board.

“I look forward to working closely with the board members and the dedicated team at the Corporation to ensure we achieve our objectives and help the Country’s growth in manufacturing, increase exports and attract foreign direct investments,” said Dr Bunyasi.

Ratemo has over 15 years of experience in Credit Risk Management having formerly worked in various firms including Eco Bank Kenya, Sidian Bank and Tourism Finance Corporation.

She holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration, with Finance Option from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a Bachelor of Commerce with an Accounting Option.

The former KDC Investments Director is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and Institute of Certified Investment Financial Analysts (ICIFA).

“I take on this role with critical awareness of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” stated Ratemo.

She added, “We have an opportunity to build a world class organization that is fit for purpose to support the Government on Bottom up Economic Transformation Agenda in partnership with various developmental partners and our Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry and KDC Board.”

Also appointed to the corporation's board are Faith Mwaura, Sigee Koech, Caroline Muigai and Benjamin Muketha.

They join Investments Promotion PS Abubakar Hassan Abubakar, Alternate Director to the National Treasury and Planning Cabinet Secretary Michael Kahika and Judith Kerich.
