Leading online food delivery platform, Jumia Food, has made a significant move by announcing the expansion of its operations to two secondary cities in Kenya, Meru and Nanyuki.

This strategic expansion aims to deepen the platform's reach in these regions and cater to the growing demand for online food delivery services.

Jumia Food's latest move enables consumers in Meru and Nanyuki to savour their favourite KFC meals from the comfort of their homes, creating a convenient and reliable way to order food in these cities.

KFC, being the leading restaurant chain in Kenya, with over 35 branches across the country, joins hands with Jumia Food to facilitate this partnership, ensuring accessibility for local consumers in Meru and Nanyuki.

"We are excited to bring Jumia Food to Meru and Nanyuki," expressed Sonali Patel, Jumia Food Commercial Director, acknowledging the escalating demand for online food delivery services in these secondary cities.

The collaboration with KFC is expected to successfully meet the needs of local consumers, providing them with a seamless experience of ordering food at their fingertips.

The expansion of Jumia Food into Meru and Nanyuki reflects the wider trend of the growing appetite for online food delivery services in Kenya.

Projections suggest that the country's online food delivery market will witness an impressive Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 15 per cent over the next five years.

Jacques Theunissen, Kuku Foods East Africa CEO, expressed the brand's dedication to making their menu more accessible and forging new channels to connect with customers across all KFC restaurants in Kenya.

"The changing consumer trends around online ordering, specifically in Nanyuki where the demand for delivery has grown, have led us to partner with e-commerce players like Jumia Food to provide this service," said Theunissen.

According to Theunissen, the collaboration with Jumia Food now allows residents of Nanyuki to enjoy KFC's finger-lickin' good chicken, delivered directly to their doorstep, wherever they may be.

With operations already running in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, and Nakuru, Jumia Food is set to further expand its services to more secondary cities in the coming months.

"We are committed to providing Kenyans with convenient and reliable ways to order food, regardless of where they live," Patel stated.

Patel affirment that the expansion to Meru and Nanyuki marks just the beginning of their endeavour to bring Jumia Food's convenience to more secondary cities across Kenya in the near future.

As consumer preferences continue to evolve, the collaboration between Jumia Food and KFC signifies a significant step towards meeting the increasing demand for online food delivery services in Kenya.

This expansion aims to serve more communities with the ease and accessibility of ordering food, solidifying Jumia Food's position as the leading online food delivery platform in the country.
