SBM Bank Kenya CEO, Moezz Mir, ranks among the eminent African bankers who have set their sights on the prestigious African Banker of the Year award presented by African Banker Magazine.

The African Banker Awards are designed to recognize the reforms, rapid modernisation, consolidation, integration and expansion of Africa’s banking and financial system.

The Awards Ceremony will be held on 24th May 2023 at the Rixos Sharm El Sheikh Adults Only in Egypt.

Mir's nomination for the African Banker of the Year award highlights his exceptional leadership and significant contributions to the banking industry in Kenya and beyond.

The African Banker of the Year award serves as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding achievements within the African banking community.

The nominees are carefully selected based on their exceptional performance, strategic vision, and commitment to driving positive change in the financial services sector.

Competing alongside Mir for the esteemed award are other notable figures from the African banking landscape.

These include Trade and Development Bank Managing Director Admassu Tadesse, African Export and Import Bank President Prof Benedict Oramah, Co-operative Bank of Kenya Head of Agriculture Business Esther Kariuki, Othman Benjelloun of Bank of Africa, and Yemi Edun of First City Monument Bank.

The 2023 edition of the African Banker Awards is being organized by African Banker and IC Events. The ceremony will be sponsored at the platinum level by the African Guarantee Fund (AGF) and at the associate level by the Trade and Development Bank (TDB) and Tunisia's Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, which is overseeing a significant project to support start-ups and SMEs.

This year's Awards gala is poised to emphasize the theme of gender equity in the industry, as evidenced by the substantial proportion of female candidates competing for the esteemed title of Banker of the Year.
