Kenneth Langat has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA) for a period of three years effective April 21, 2023.

Langat’s appointment was announced by Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria through a Gazette Notice dated April 26, 2023 after being picked by the SEZA Board of Directors.

“It is notified for the general information of the public that the Board of Directors of the Special Economic Zones Authority has appointed Kenneth Chelule Langat as the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority,” read the gazette notice in part.

He had been serving as the SEZA CEO in an acting capacity after joining the authority in the position of Director of Partnership, Strategy, Research, and Resource Mobilization.

He previously worked as the Chief Research Scientist and Deputy Director at the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI) before joining the state agency.

Langat holds a Doctorate and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Staffordshire University in the UK and an Executive Master’s in Business Administration degree from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

SEZA’s mandate is to attract, facilitate and retain domestic and foreign direct investments in Special Economic Zones while providing a conducive environment for investors to thrive.
