The former Salary and Remuneration Commission (SRC) boss Sarah Serem, has officially taken over the leadership of Postbank as chairperson of the Board of Directors.
Serem takes over from Ntoros Baari Ole Senteu who handed over the reins of the bank at the institution’s headquarters.
Treasury CS Njuguna Ndungu announced Serem’s appointment in a gazette notice dated January 13, 2023, and IT will run for three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (2) (a) of the Kenya Post Office Savings Bank Act, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints— AMB. SARAH SEREM to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Post Office Savings Bank, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 13th January 2023,” the gazette notice read.

Postbank said it was optimistic that with Serem’s wealth of experience and expertise, it will advance its role in offering financial services to Kenyans.
"Ambassador Serem brings a wealth of experience and expertise in government administration, and we are optimistic that under her leadership, we will advance our role of offering financial services to the people of Kenya," the statement read.
While assuming the office, Serem expressed her pleasure with the appointment and said she was looking forward to working with the bank’s leadership to meet their customers’ and stakeholders’ needs.
"I look forward to working with the Bank’s leadership to meet our customer's and stakeholders' needs as well as advance the savings agenda of the country, seeing as we are the institution mandated by the Government to mobilise national savings," Serem said.
Serem assured of her commitment to building on the solid foundation laid by her predecessor and to continue to drive the Bank's growth and success.
