The gods are smiling on Polycarp Igathe yet again for the umpteenth time after the former Nairobi governor candidate bagged yet another lucrative job after losing the August 9 poll.

South Africa’s Tiger Brands has announced that Igathe will be joining the Johannesburg -based company as its new Chief Growth Officer for the Rest of Africa with effect from December 1, 2022.

The appointment takes him back to Tiger Brands after serving as its Managing Director for East Africa before leaving for Vivo Energy, a British downstream petroleum firm which has its headquarters in London.

In a statement, the firm said Igathe brings it a strong commercial capability, strategy, sales, marketing and business leadership skills through various management roles across Africa.

Igathe, who lost in the Nairobi gubernatorial race to Johnson Sakaja, has worked for top companies in Kenya including Kenya Breweries, Equity Bank, Coca-Cola and Haco Industries.

“I look forward to the diverse set of capabilities and knowledge of the continent that Polycarp will bring to driving the execution of our ambitious growth strategy for the Rest of Africa," said Tiger Brands CEO Noel Doyle.

The darling of the corporate world also served as deputy governor of Nairobi under Mike Sonko in 2017 before he resigned on January 31, 2018 after an ugly fallout with Sonko.
