Safaricom on Tuesday revamped its data plans in a move that will see its customers enjoy up to 100 per cent more data on their favourite daily, weekly, monthly and select all-in-one plans.

According to Safaricom, the move will see both its Postpay and Prepay customers use its internet service to browse more at no extra cost.

The telcos says its decision to offer its customers more value on their data purchases is in recognition of the prevailing economic challenges that has seen the cost of living skyrocket.

Some of the key changes include Sh20 daily plan, which has been increased to 100MB, up from 50MB; the Sh99 weekly plan with 500MB, up from 350MB, and Sh1000 monthly plan that now offers 7GB, up from 5GB.

“Kenya’s economy has shown considerable resilience to the enormous shocks it has been subjected to over the last two years. At Safaricom, we recognize the additional economic strain that our customers have had to bear and remain committed to delivering solutions that provide a cushion while enabling them to enjoy the transformative power of the internet,” said Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.

The new data plans follow the success of Mwelekeo Ni Internet campaign launched in November to showcase internet transformation, provide data offers, and enable customers to acquire affordable 4G smartphones via the Lipa Mdogo Mdogo device financing plan.

Customers can access the new data offers by dialing *544# or visiting MySafaricom app.
