Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd. (DAIPL), the Indian arm of Japan’s Daikin Industries Ltd., has set up a new base in Nairobi, marking its first direct office in East Africa.

The office, located on the eighth floor of One Africa Place, will act as both a showcase for its products and a centre for strengthening its regional presence.

The Nairobi hub features a modern showroom where customers can experience Daikin’s technologies first-hand.

It also doubles as a support point for marketing and promotional services, with the company positioning the site as a springboard to deepen its engagement with the African market.

Explaining the company’s strategy, KJ Jawa, Chairman and Managing Director of Daikin India and Board Member of Daikin Industries Ltd., said the new space reflects a wider plan for the continent.

"With India demonstrating a robust upward growth & business trajectory, we have plans to get aggressive in our approach within Africa and the New Daikin Office is a key step towards strengthening Daikin’s endeavour to capture significant market share," Jawa stated.

"We are committed to provide unmatched consumer experience with network of highly trained sales, service and maintenance through our strong dealer network & employees.”

He emphasised that the expansion goes beyond market share, adding, “Daikin takes a major step forward in strengthening its leadership in the industry, catering to the growing demand for cutting-edge, eco-friendly air-conditioning solutions globally. More than just increasing capacity, our investment reflects our long-term vision, to drive excellence, foster strategic partnerships, and contribute to Africa’s evolving landscape, ensuring shared success for all stakeholders."

Junichi Omori, General Manager of Daikin’s Global Operations Division, also emphasised the company’s long-term vision for the region.

“We are poised to accelerate our expansion across Africa, adopting a more aggressive approach to strengthen our market presence. The launch of new office is Daikin’s mission to enhance its market share and industry leadership. Our commitment remains steadfast in delivering an exceptional consumer experience, powered by a highly skilled sales, service, and maintenance network, supported by our dedicated dealer partners and employees," Omori said.

"The African market has demonstrated remarkable momentum in the last year, and we project it to grow into a multi-billion-dollar opportunity going forward. This is why Daikin is planning to introduce a host of new, Africa-specific products and significantly expanding our dealer network across the continent."

Daikin’s decision to root its operations in Nairobi highlights how Africa’s fast-changing cities and growing housing demand are drawing global players.

By investing in infrastructure, training, and region-specific products, the company aims to position itself at the forefront of an industry that is set to expand rapidly across the continent.
