CFAO Mobility Kenya has issued a clarification that the liquidation of DT Dobie & Company (Kenya) Limited is only a legal requirement and does not represent a withdrawal of brands or services from the Kenyan market.

The company explained that the winding up was approved earlier this year as part of finalising the retirement of the DT Dobie name.

“DT Dobie was placed under liquidation as a legal entity following a resolution passed earlier this year,” the statement noted.

The clarification stressed that customers should not interpret the process as an exit of familiar vehicle marques. “The liquidation marks only the formal winding down of the DT Dobie name, not an exit of these automotive brands from Kenya,” the company said.

DT Dobie’s operations, assets and franchises had already been absorbed into CFAO Motors Kenya in 2023, well before the liquidation resolution.

This means that sales and after-sales support were transferred in full to CFAO.

To reassure motorists, the company explained, “As such, there is no disruption to customers, all sales, servicing, spare parts, and aftersales continue seamlessly under CFAO Motors, which operates 36 branches nationwide.”

Records show that as of March 31, 2023, the CFAO Group managed three subsidiaries in Kenya: CFAO Mobility Kenya (then called CFAO Motors Kenya), DT Dobie, and LOXEA Kenya. A restructuring followed on April 1, 2023, when DT Dobie officially transferred its assets into CFAO Mobility Kenya.

According to the clarification, “Through this strategic alignment, DT Dobie & Company Kenya Ltd officially transferred its business assets to CFAO Mobility Kenya. This consolidation marked the unification of both businesses under a single entity: CFAO Mobility Kenya Limited.”

The reorganisation allowed CFAO Mobility Kenya to expand its range, combining the expertise of both businesses into one brand.

Today, the company is the authorised distributor of 12 global vehicle brands and offers more than 21 models.

Its nationwide presence now includes more than 40 branches, service centres, and authorised dealerships.

In line with the law, DT Dobie has appointed a liquidator to conclude its winding up, but CFAO Mobility Kenya says customers should expect uninterrupted service.

“For customers, this transition means greater convenience, consistency, and access to a broader range of mobility solutions, all under one trusted name,” the company said.

The company said its focus remains on offering consistent support and widening access to vehicles and mobility solutions across Kenya.
