Naivas Supermarket has refuted reports that expired products had been found in its outlets in Nairobi City County resulting in a closure directive by Nairobi County Health Committee.
The retail chain has also strongly refuted reports that its branches in Nairobi County have been closed by the said committee that issued a media briefing outside one of its branches.
“Naivas Supermarket wishes to correct recent misinformation circulating on social media and other informal channels regarding the alleged sale of expired products and the supposed closure of Nairobi branches by authorities,” Naivas clarified in a statement.
The supermarket said it maintains strict internal quality control and stock management systems at all its branches to ensure product safety and compliance with health regulations.
“No Naivas branch has been closed by any regulatory or health authority.

“All our stores remain fully operational and compliant with all national and county-level standards set by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), the Ministry of Health, and relevant bodies.”
It intimated that the circulating reports are false, misleading, and potentially harmful, not only to their brand but to its customers who frequent its branches for their daily purchases.
“Naivas is taking legal advice regarding a formal action against the individuals or organisations that are spreading misinformation regarding Naivas,” Naivas warned.
Naivas Supermarket strongly hinted at possible attempts at extortion targeting the Kenyan retailer but fell short of revealing the identity of the individual or entity behind such a move.
“Naivas has a very strict anti-bribery and corruption policy and will not submit to extortionary tactics.”
This statement comes hours after the Nairobi County Health Committee, in a media briefing, ordered Naivas to close all its outlets in Nairobi on allegations they sold expired products.
We are aware of the false claims circulating online regarding expired products and alleged branch closures. Naivas remains committed to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
