Female footballers in Kenya are set to receive direct financial rewards for their performances following the introduction of a new sponsorship scheme by sports betting firm betPawa in partnership with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
The initiative, dubbed the Locker Room Bonus, will see winning teams in the FKF Women’s Cup receive payouts immediately after match-day victories.
A total of Sh4.3 million has been earmarked for this bonus scheme across the entire tournament, aimed at encouraging competitiveness and rewarding success on the pitch.
Each victorious team will see 23 players and 3 technical staff members share the cash prize, which will be delivered directly to their mobile wallets—marking a shift from traditional lump-sum sponsorships to outcome-based individual incentives.
“This collaboration with betPawa is a game-changer for the FKF Women’s Cup. The Locker Room Bonus initiative provides financial relief to female players while raising the tournament’s profile by rewarding exceptional performances,” said Hussein Mohammed, President, Football Kenya Federation.

According to betPawa, the sponsorship is designed not merely as a marketing initiative but as a long-term investment in women’s football, where financial rewards are linked directly to team success.
“At betPawa, we believe in investing in talent and development across Africa. The Locker Room Bonus is more than sponsorship, it’s a commitment to rewarding women in sport and giving football the visibility it deserves. We’re proud to drive this transformative change alongside FKF,” said Raquel Puig, Head of CSR & Sports Development at betPawa.
The payout model is expected to drive not just performance, but also morale and professional development, giving players and staff more reason to strive for excellence.
The FKF Women’s Cup, which continues to gain attention as the country’s premier women’s football competition, will now be underpinned by this innovative reward structure that links effort to earnings—one match at a time.
