Leading telecommunications company Safaricom on Thursday announced it had appointed Cynthia Karuri-Kropac as its new Chief Enterprise Business Officer.

Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa says the appointment of Cynthia will take effect from September 1, 2022.

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Cynthia Karuri-Kropac as Chief Enterprise Business Officer effective 1st September 2022,” said Ndegwa in a statdement.

Cynthia is joining the mobile phone service giant from AT&T Inc, where she had been the Senior Director, Enterprise Mobile and IoT Technologies, since 2019.

Cynthia had been working at AT&T form 19 years after joining BellSouth in 2003 as a Senior IT Client Account Management Lead before taking on the role of Director, Mobile Service Delivery and Operations, for Cingular Wireless in 2008.

In 2010, she was appointed AT&T Global Lead and Director, Enterprise Solutions and Sales Support, a position she held until 2019 when she took up her latest role as Senior Director, Enterprise Mobile and IoT Technologies.

Before joining AT&T, Cynthia worked for Accenture/Andersen Consulting as a Senior Manager for seven years.

She boasts of more than 20 years of experience in the Telecommunications sector.

“Cynthia has a wealth of knowledge in various crafts, including Business Strategy, Industrial IoT, Enterprise Technology Solutions, Executive Advisory & Decision Support, Operational Excellence and Process Reengineering,” added the Safaricom CEO in the statement.

Cynthia holds a Bachelor of Finance degree from the University of Toledo, Ohio, and an MBA in Finance and International Business from Kent State University, Ohio.

"As we welcome Cynthia to the Safaricom family, I would also like to thank Joseph Wanjohi for his leadership and steering of the Enterprise Business team during the last 3 months," he concluded.

Kris Senanu

The appointment comes after Kris Senanu, the former holder of the office, stepped down at the end of May close to one year after joining Safaricom to take up the role.

Senanu had joined Safaricom in June 2021 from Telkom Kenya, where he was Telkom Digital Managing Director and had previously also worked at AccessKenya Group and Swift Global.
