The second-largest mobile service provider in the country, Airtel Kenya, has appointed Ashish Malhotra as its new Managing Director.

Malhotra replaces Prasanta Das Sarma who held the same position since January 2017 before moving to his new role as the Fiber Company CEO for Airtel Africa.

Before his latest appointment, Malhotra was the Group Head of Sales and Marketing at Airtel Africa where he had 14 where Airtel operated countries under him.

Airtel Kenya has also appointed Louis Onyango Otieno as the new Airtel Kenya Chairperson.

Otieno has served on several boards and has over 30 years of experience in ICT in both the private and public sectors.

Otieno is also the chairperson of Absa Asset Management Limited and also a non-independent director at Absa Bank Kenya PLC and Nation Media Group PLC.

Before joining Microsoft Corporation in 1992 where he led the company’s business in Africa in several capacities for 21 years, Otieno first worked at the EEC Financial Services in New York where he started his career and rose through the ranks to become the Assistant Vice President.
