Sarova Hotels and Resorts has ventured into the stand-alone restaurant business and launched The Kitchen by Sarova and ChiSo by Sarova as it seeks to diversify to weather the Covid-19 pandemic. 

The two stand-alone restaurants which were launched in Westlands, Nairobi at the Urban Eatery located at Delta Towers targets those who want to experience some luxury dining.

Speaking at the launch, Sarova Hotels and Resorts Director for Food and Beverage Operations, Shailendar Singh, said they had been forced to adapt to the changing business environment.

“The current situation has presented an opportunity for exploration and the hospitality industry is experiencing a wave of reinvention in terms of choice and culinary services. That is why we are constantly implementing newer, better, and more efficient ideas of dining to cater to the broad ever-changing industry,” said Singh.

“To make ourselves more accessible to guests, we are taking our brands out to the market. This is a unique initiative where a major hotel chain is taking its F&B brands out of its premises.

“Usually, we find hotels taking other restaurant brands and franchises into their space but for the first time, we as a hotel chain, are taking our culinary repertoire into this diverse and expanding Westlands area.”

The Kitchen by Sarova is established in a similar fashion to a its Thorn Tree and Flame Tree cafe and offers dining in Western, African and Indian cuisines.

On the other side, ChiSo by Sarova is inspired by Sarova’s award winning Thai Chi offers Japanese, Malay, Thai, Indonesian and Chinese gastronomy.

Sarova expects the new move to rake in more revenues for it during this pandemic when the hospitality has been the hardest hit with many laying off their workers and others closing shop.
