Local retail chain Tusker Mattresses Limited has announced a rollout of a mega sale of up to 90 per cent discount this coming weekend at its flagship Tuskys T-Mall hypermarket.

The clearance sale, which kicks off on Thursday features a selection of household items, furniture and clothing and is expected to be hosted while observing Covid-19 protocols.

Tusker Mattresses interim CEO Chadwick Okumu says the sale will be done at the T-Mall Parking Silo as the retailer seeks to generate working capital to accelerate its recovery plans.

Okumu says sale proceeds will be ploughed back into the business to fund fast-moving lines in all active branches to grow footfall further by expanding FMCG product ranges and later enhance customer satisfaction.

He added that Tuskys’ recovery plan has seen it revive 9 key branches in Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Narok and Mombasa counties with steady sales growth in the past 3 months.

The nine branches are Tuskys T-Mall, Tuskys Karasha (Kenyatta Avenue), Tuskys Imara (Tom Mboya Street), Tuskys Ongata Rongai, Tuskys Thigiri, Tuskys Ol-Talet, Tuskys Bandari, Tuskys Eastlands (Buruburu) with Tuskys Milele (Ngong) expected to reopen in a fortnight.

“This Up to 90 per cent clearance sale provides us with twin opportunities to express our gratitude to our stakeholders who have continued to stand with us under difficult operating conditions. It is also an opportunity to liquidate stocks and generate much-needed cash to fund operations at the ten running branches,” Okumu added.

During the weekend sale, Okumu says the supermarket will maintain cash-less payments though mobile money transfer services, as the retailer seeks a comeback after falling into financial turbulence.
